I bought a second hand AlpinerX, great I thought then the problems started, not with the watch but with the app. Kept freezing up on me for no apparent reason, re-installed at least a dozen times but still hit and miss (more miss than hit!) anyway three days ago watch started acting odd, didn’t have my phone with me and the watch stopped and put some strange numbers etc on the display. As soon as I got home held it next to my phone and the app said it needed to update the watch. Ok let it get on with it. It’s said update 2/2 but it kept on a loop for 4 attempts then it said done! Brilliant or so I thought, a few hours later the watch bleeped and stopped again as before. Opened the app, updates 2/2. It continued to do this at least 3 times a day until last night. Bleeped so I clicked update, did it’s usual thing but on the 3rd attempt the app froze at 40 odd % I watched a two hour film on tv and it was still frozen, so I turned off the phone, I thought I’ll reinstall the app again so I did, when I picked up the watch the lcd was black and the app wanted to pair with it, now I have a dead watch, nothing kaput. I’ve contacted Alpina but I know what they are going to say, send it in for repairs and charge me a fortune when it was their software that killed it!!!!
I wish I’d never bothered with this watch, I should have bought a proper smart watch.
